Terms of Engagement & Privacy Notice — Identity Verification
1. Who we are
Adrian Markey Chartered Accountants (“we”, “us”) is a firm of Chartered Accountants based in Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland, and a registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) with Companies House. Our ACSP registration can be checked on the public Companies House register.

2. What we are engaged to do
When you complete our identity verification form and pay the fee, you engage us to:
- check your identity to the standard required by Companies House for directors, People with Significant Control and those filing on a company’s behalf;
- carry out that check at an appointment, either in person at our office or by live video call;
- submit the resulting identity verification to Companies House on your behalf.
Companies House issues your Personal Code directly to you once verification is accepted, normally within a few hours and occasionally the next working day.
3. What this engagement does not include
This is a standalone service. It does not make us your accountants or tax advisers, and it does not include:
- filing your confirmation statement, accounts or any other return;
- advice on your duties as a director or PSC;
- verification of any other person (each individual verifies separately);
- correcting or updating company records at Companies House.
We are happy to quote separately for any of the above.
4. Your responsibilities
You confirm that:
- the documents you provide are genuine, current, unaltered and relate to you;
- the information you give us is accurate and complete;
- you will attend your appointment with your original documents available for inspection;
- for video appointments, you will be on camera with your full face visible, without hats, sunglasses, filters or background blur.
Providing false or misleading information to Companies House is a criminal offence. We are required to report suspicions of money laundering or identity fraud to the relevant authorities, and we may not be permitted to tell you that we have done so.
5. Fees and payment
The fee is £100 plus VAT (£120 including VAT at the current rate), payable in advance when you submit the form. One fee covers your verification regardless of how many directorships or PSC roles you hold, because verification is linked to you rather than to each company.
If verification cannot be completed: where your documents do not meet the Companies House standard, we will tell you what is needed and offer a further appointment at no extra charge. If verification still cannot be completed, the fee is non-refundable — our time and checks have been incurred either way.
Cancellations and no-shows: you may rearrange your appointment at no cost with at least 24 hours’ notice. We will rearrange twice without charge. Beyond that, or where appointments are missed without notice, we reserve the right to treat the fee as forfeited.
6. Personal data we collect
To carry out verification we collect: your full name, date of birth, contact details, the company numbers you provide, your role, and images of your identity and address documents. We also record the date, method and outcome of your verification.
7. Why we can process it
We process this data to perform our contract with you, and to comply with our legal obligations as a registered ACSP under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 and money laundering regulations. This processing is a legal requirement rather than something based on your consent, which means you cannot withdraw it while we remain obliged to keep the records.
Marketing emails are separate. Those are sent only if you tick the optional box asking us to keep you posted on filing deadlines, and you can unsubscribe at any time without affecting your verification.
8. Who we share it with
- Companies House — the verification outcome and the information required by the verification standard.
- Our software and service providers — our website host (Big Wet Fish), our payment processor (Stripe), our appointment scheduling tool (Cal.com), and, where additional identity checks are required, our identity verification providers (Oversuite and Thirdfort). Our own verification system, ID Vault, is software we built and host ourselves — your records in it are not shared with any third party.
- Law enforcement or regulators — where we are legally required to report.
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
9. How we store it and for how long
Your documents are held in our own secure verification system on encrypted storage, accessible only to authorised staff. Copies uploaded through the website are removed from the website once transferred.
We retain identity verification records — including copies of your documents, evidence of the checks completed, and records of any failed verification attempts — for 7 years from the date the identity checks are completed. This is the period Companies House requires of registered ACSPs. After that period, records are securely deleted.
10. Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or complain about how we have handled it. Because much of this data is held to meet legal obligations, rights to erasure and to object are limited while those obligations apply.

11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, please tell us at info@adrianmarkey.com and we will respond within 14 days. As Chartered Accountants we are also subject to the complaints procedures of Chartered Accountants Ireland.
12. Governing law
This engagement is governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction.
